MoviePass just lowered their price again for a “limited time.” The new deal is a one year subscription for $89.95 which breaks out to $6.95 per month plus a $6.55 processing fee. This beats the $9.95 per month price announced in August. When the one year is over the price will revert back to $9.95 per month.
History of MoviePass
Mitch Lowe was one of the co-founders of Netflix and was also the former President of Redbox.
He is now the CEO of MoviePass, a monthly subscription service that allows you to watch one movie a day in a participating movie theater.
Apparently this company has been around since 2011, but the price has been dropping over time. The previous price before August was $30 per month.
How MoviePass works
MoviePass is subsidizing the movie ticket prices in order to get lots of new customers. Even if you only go to one movie per month you will most likely be saving money.
To sign up, head to their website or download the iOS or Android app. You receive a MoviePass card in 5-7 business days. This card is used to redeem your movie ticket at any participating theater.
You can cancel at any time and there are no fees.
MoviePass is available in 91% of movie theaters (excluding 3D or IMAX). To see eligible theaters in your area change the zip code in the following URL: https://www.moviepass.com/register/map?zip=90210
