This week Mrs. MaximumCents went to our friendly neighborhood Trader Joe’s for the grocery shopping. We love going to Trader Joe’s for the fresh organic produce, low prices, and efficient layout. Our typical grocery cost is around $125 per week.
This comes out to about 3.7% of our annual income. Americans on average spend between 9-12% (depending on the source) of their income on food. Check out my recent blog post here on why it’s important to cook at home.
Week of 8/6/17
Our bill this week was $79.82 but did not include any meat or fish (except wild smoked salmon). There were various goodies including fruit, veggies, pitas, energy bars, oats, eggs, almond milk, and hummus. This week was probably offset by some of last week’s Costco run where I purchased some items in bulk including packs of chicken breast.
I will keep an eye on how much we are spending on food and share in future blog posts. How much do you typically spend per week?
