Last Two Weeks
In the last groceries update for the week of 8/6/17 we shopped at Trader Joe’s and spent $79.82. That trip not include any meat or fish (except wild smoked salmon). There were various goodies including fruit, veggies, pitas, energy bars, oats, eggs, almond milk, and hummus.
Last week we also shopped at Trader Joe’s and spent $111.84 but I have misplaced the receipt.
UPDATE: Week of 8/20/17
This week we visited a local orchard where we spent $18.16 on peaches, apples, gelato, and honey. We also went to a local farm where we purchased eggplant, zucchini flowers (a summer treat), corn, green beans, and pickles. The farm trip cost us $19.89.
Finally, we just went shopping at Trader Joe’s and that trip included several more items than the week of 8/6/17 trip including peanut butter, salmon burgers, almond meal, etc. This week at Trader Joe’s we spent $98.42.
This brings us to a weekly total of $136.47. Not too bad considering we splurged a little on local organic goodies. My goal is not to provide updates regularly, but rather to be more deliberate in tracking how our money is being spent. The average grocery costs for the last 3 weeks is $109.38, which is lower than my guess that we typically spend $125 per week. I think this is a good number considering all the variety and healthy options we have been buying.
Readers, have you been keeping track of your grocery purchases? Are you in line with your budgets?
